The Seattle-Sihanoukville Sister City Association is an IRS 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. We are a community-based with over 75 active members since 1995. Our projects and activities have included the followings:
- Raising funds to build a primary school in a village in Sihanoukville Province
- Funding the first public library in Sihanoukville located in the Sihanoukville High School
- Coordinating school pen pal exchange program
- Sponsoring an educational forum on Cambodia, including trade and investment opportunities
- Hosting Cambodian representatives and facilitate meetings with local and state officials
- Sponsoring Cambodian New Year celebration in April and summer picnic
Our activities and projects are funded through membership dues, corporate sponsorship, donations, fund-raising activities, and yearly sum allocated by the City of Seattle.
Our mission is to increase understanding and to develop cultural awareness and sensitivity, educational, trade and commercial ties between the people of the City of Seattle, Washington (USA) and the people of the City of Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
